Help Us Fight the Flu!

Influenza and other viral illness are currently widespread in the community; and when sick people visit our patients, they put both our staff and our patients at risk for infection.

Help Keep Our Patients Safe: Sick Visitors Should Not Visit

While WakeMed has not implemented widespread visitor restrictions this year, we strongly urge all patients, visitors and anyone else with a contagious illness to stay home and avoid visiting our patients. The WakeMed Patient Visitation Policy states that:

The support person, all family members, and any guest of a patient must be free of symptoms of contagious illness: fever, nausea/vomiting, cough, or runny nose, and must respect the hospital’s infection prevention policies.

Wash Your Hands!

One of the best ways to prevent the spread of the flu is to keep your hands clean! Clean your hands with soap and water or alcohol hand gel before entering patient areas.
