5 Ways to Be Young at Heart

Who says that kids get to have all of the fun?

One of the best (and most fun) ways to stay young at heart is to channel your inner child. Run. Jump. Play laser tag. Get fit, burn calories and give your heart a workout while enjoying yourself. Need some ideas to get you started? No problem. We’ve listed ten below:

#1 – Pick up a creative hobby.

Try a painting class, a zumba class. Being creative is good for your brain and good for your overall health.

#2 – Play with your kids.

Versus “watching,” why not engage with your kids when they’re playing? Kick the soccer ball around, join them on the playground. Running around after your kids will definitely get your heart rate up and is a great way to spend quality time with them.

#3 – Play tag.

It’s easy. It’s free, and it gets your heart pumping. Grab some friends and go!

#4 – Join a sports team.

There are tons of adult intramural and competitive sports leagues available in the Triangle area. From soccer to ultimate Frisbee – find something and try it out. It’s a great way to meet new friends while staying active.

#5 – Get plenty of rest.

There’s a reason why we make sure children get plenty of sleep. There’s no excuse why we shouldn’t’ be doing the same. Get yourself into healthy sleep habits. Aim for at least 8 hours of sleep each night. Your body (and brain) will thank you!
