Less Waiting in WakeMed’s North Raleigh, Brier Creek, Apex & Garner Emergency Rooms

An investigative team from ABC11 WTVD recently ran a story about local emergency room wait times and how long and frustrating they can be. They found that “across North Carolina people wait on average 38 minutes for non-life threatening cases – the fourth longest wait in the country.”

WakeMed Garner Healthplex

To help combat this challenge and improve access, WakeMed offers four stand-alone emergency departments throughout Wake County. They give the same great quality care provided by the same board-certified physicians that staff our Raleigh Campus (home to our Level I Trauma Center), Cary Hospital and Children’s Emergency Departments – all closer to home and with much shorter wait times.

And, to make things easier on you, we publish our Emergency Department wait times every 30 minutes on our website and App.

Of course, the best place to access the health care system in a non-emergent, non-life threatenting situation is through your primary care provider. If you don’t have one, search for a WakeMed primary care provider near you.
