So Does Anybody Really Observe Meatless Mondays?

If you click here, you will see is a list of more than 50 hospitals around the country that have adopted Meatless Monday in their cafeterias. More are joining every week, and WakeMed Cary is on that list (feel the pride)!

This October, the Meatless Monday movement celebrates 10 years since its launch.  Meatless Monday began in 2003, in association with the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Meatless Monday is now active in 29 countries and growing because every nation can bring its unique culture, customs and cuisine to the table in meat free and vegetarian dishes.

Besides hospitals, K-12 schools, college campuses, organizations, and restaurants are embracing the movement to improve the health of the community.

Hundreds of celebrities, from all different professions have also voiced their support, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Oprah, Simon Cowell and many more.

So why wait till January to start a resolution? Check out the local scene at Triangle Meatless Monday and sign up.

Also, if you are at Cary Hospital on a Monday, plan to take advantage of the yummy meatless offerings.  This week, we’re featuring a delectable Eggplant Parmesan.  You won’t even miss the meat.

Take the pledge now and reduce your risk of chronic preventable diseases, including cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and obesity.  It’s just one day a week!
