Why I Give: Caron Hodges

Each year, the WakeMed Foundation’s Community Campaign offers an opportunity to support hospital programs and services. We sat down with Caron Hodges, a full-time working wife and mother and WakeMed Foundation Community Campaign Volunteer, to talk about why serving WakeMed matters to her.

I’m grateful that we have an institution locally that is focused not only on innovating health and health care, but also on partnering with the community to truly meet its greatest needs. I’m passionate about giving back and working with others who want to do the same, and the WakeMed Foundation has given me that opportunity.

Complete Confidence

When I think about WakeMed on a personal level, I think about the confidence I have in the care that I and my family members and friends have received. There’s a comfort in knowing that you can place your trust in a team to deliver high-quality, top-of-the-line, outstanding, innovative care.

Beyond my personal experience, WakeMed’s focus on innovation stands out, including an innovative approach to the patient experience. I’m inspired by the NICU Family Navigator program. My son was born premature, so I know that what a family goes through is chaotic and emotional. Having somebody there to guide you through — I can only imagine how wonderful that is, and what a blessing. WakeMed is committed to improving and enhancing the family experience.

Leading by Example

I think it’s most important to give personally. In my work with the Community Campaign, I personally invested in the organization before I began fundraising. Now, I have set up a recurring gift, which is a great way to make giving easy.

There are so many ways to get involved, to partner with the community, and to support WakeMed’s mission.

What is the Community Campaign?

Each year, the WakeMed Foundation Community Campaign offers an opportunity for the community — for you — to support hospital programs and services. Foundation board members and volunteers raise donations and sponsorships of every amount from existing and new donors. One hundred percent of donated dollars go directly to fund programs and services to support patient care in all areas of the hospital. Creating healing environments. Providing innovative programs. Investing in skilled and compassionate caregivers. Supporting the urgent needs of our patients and families. Donations make it all possible. Your gift truly helps save and transform lives. Make a gift now.
