5 Reasons Why the WakeMed Foundation Should Be at the Top of Your List on #GivingTuesday

It’s Giving Tuesday! Giving Tuesday Now is a Global Generosity movement designed in response to the unprecedented needs caused by COVID-19. The WakeMed Foundation is appreciative of the incredible outpouring of support we’ve seen from the community thus far, and we continue to welcome philanthropic gifts to support WakeMed and the health and well-being of this community.

“While there are so many incredible, deserving organizations in our community, WakeMed has always been here to serve the health care needs of Wake County and beyond,” explains Brad Davis, executive director of the WakeMed Foundation. “The WakeMed Foundation is honored to raise funds to support the incredible work WakeMed does to support the health of this community every day – particularly during the unprecedented times we’re facing right now.”

That’s why your support is needed today, more than ever.  Here are five great reasons to consider a gift to the WakeMed Foundation on #GivingTuesdayNow.

5 Reasons to Consider Giving Back on Giving Tuesday

#1 – You Can Contribute to WakeMed’s COVID-19 Response.

As Wake County’s largest health care provider, WakeMed is on the frontlines of Wake County’s COVID-19 response. From increasing COVID-19 testing capacity to providing our homeless neighbors with access to telemedicine to helping those in crisis during these unprecedented times, the WakeMed Foundation is supporting this community’s response efforts in many ways.

#2 – Your Donation Can Help Frontline Workers in Need.

Donating to the WakeMed Foundation allows you to give back to the health care workers who are on the frontlines of delivering patient care – both during COVID-19 and during non-pandemic times. WakeMed’s Employee Assistance Fund is supported by the WakeMed Foundation and provides financial resources to health care workers experiencing hardship due to COVID-19 such as illness, childcare, and/or other emergency situations. This fund also enhances WakeMed’s ability to implement employee support programs for health care workers during this difficult time.

#3 – You Can Support Our Local Economy.

WakeMed is Wake County’s ONLY local, independent health system. Like all businesses, WakeMed has been impacted by COVID-19.  Your philanthropic donations will go farther than ever to support Wake County’s community hospital.

#4 – Every Penny You Give Goes Directly to WakeMed.

100% of every penny and every dollar donated to the WakeMed Foundation will directly support WakeMed’s most urgent needs.  This will help us not only support critical COVID-19 response efforts, but the important health care programs and services this community needs today and well into the future.

Programs funded by the WakeMed Foundation in 2019 include: the expansion of Brain & Spine Health programs, Pediatric Behavioral Health & Obesity Reduction initiatives, Community Outreach and much more. Learn more about our impact here.

#5 – You Have a Choice in Where Your $$ Goes.

Whether you want to support COVID-19 efforts or a specific area at WakeMed such as Heart & Vascular Services, Children’s Services or something else – every WakeMed Foundation donor has the opportunity to choose where their contributions are allocated.
