Maybe you have a patient with a recurrent pilonidal disease problem – they’ve had one or more abscess drainage procedure(s) and still can’t get relief.
Unfortunately, many of these patients continue to suffer from recurring disease – living with pain and discomfort after multiple procedures because many physicians aren’t aware that there is a procedure that could likely cure them from future problems.
Cleft Lift Procedure
The Cleft Lift procedure is an outpatient surgical procedure intended to cure – not just relieve – pilonidal disease. Performed under general anesthesia, the procedure takes about an hour and patients are discharge home the same day with minimal discomfort and can return to full activity, including athletics, in 3 to 4 days.
The cleft lift procedure differs from other procedures in that it only removes scarred skin and minimal underlying tissue, putting the incision sufficiently to the side so it can heal well. Other flap procedures often result in disfiguring scars and fail to sufficiently shallow or re-contour the cleft to prevent recurrence.
Life Beyond Pilonidal Disease
As one of the only surgeons in NC to perform this procedure, I know how debilitating pilonidal disease can be and it has been an exceptional experience to hear first-hand from many patients how the Cleft Lift procedure has improved their quality of life.
If you have a patient struggling with pilonidal disease, I would be more than happy to speak with you directly about this procedure – or, I welcome your referral.
