The combined expertise of two renowned heart programs means more options for heart care right here in Wake County. Heart Care Plus+ brings together all of the heart services, providers and facilities of WakeMed and Duke Health into a single heart service.
This collaboration delivers highly coordinated cardiovascular care, a broader scope of services and greater value and affordability to our community’s growing population.
Advanced Heart Failure Services
The latest Heart Care Plus+ addition is Advanced Heart Failure services — a new WakeMed Heart & Vascular Physicians specialty practice. The office is now open in the WakeMed Heart Center, bringing advanced care and capabilities in the treatment of congestive heart failure.
Led by national advanced heart failure expert Stuart Russell, MD, who joins Tanaya Foster, PA-C, the practice offers same-day access for patients with complex heart failure symptoms, and patients who need immediate follow-up care after a hospital stay. Dr. Russell works closely with WakeMed Heart & Vascular cardiologists and the WakeMed Heart Failure Program.
“We are pleased to bring this collaboration between Duke Health and WakeMed — and the benefits of working together — to our patients. With expanded access to the latest advances in cardiovascular surgery, we have a number of therapies and surgical options to make patients feel better and live longer.” — Stuart Russell, MD
