Families First: It’s Squash Season

The threat of frost has almost passed making it the perfect time to get those summer and fall veggie seeds and plants into the ground.

The newest issue of WakeMed Families First magazine is hot off the presses and includes a great article all about different kinds of squash – when to plant it, how to protect it from pests, when to pick it, and most importantly how to prepare it.  Just think, if you plant today, you and your family can be enjoying home grown squash in just 60 to 90 days depending on the variety.

So, grab a spade, some seeds, the latest issue of Families First and get to planting.

Learn more about fruits and vegetables and how to prepare them from local, 12-year old celebrity chef Sydney McCoy on May 11 during Families First’s Morning at the Market.
