Tomorrow, WakeMed is kicking off a women’s health screening and information series, Treasure Your Chest. Come learn from experts based in western Wake County.

9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Kraft Family YMCA in Apex
Attendees will learn about breast health from an oncology physician, WakeMed Cary Hospital Imaging, WakeMed Rehabilitation, WakeMed Cardiac Rehab and the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program. Attendees will also enjoy a free sports bra fitting and can make their own pink ribbon bracelets in support of breast cancer awareness.
If you are not able to attend, please be sure to do regular self breast exams and schedule regular mammograms. Also, did you know that WakeMed Cary Hospital is an American College of Radiology designated Breast Imaging Center of Excellence?

Getting to the Heart of Heart Disease
6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Kraft Family YMCA
Take advantage of free blood pressure checks from 6:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and learn more about heart disease risk factors for women. Bhavani Balaravi, MD, a cardiologist with WakeMed Faculty Physicians – Raleigh Cardiology, will discuss how to live a heart healthier life.
Dr. Balaravi, whose office is in Cary, is one of the very few female cardiologists practicing in Wake County.

Make No Bones About It – We Need Them!
6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at the Cary Family YMCA
Following free bone density screenings from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., WakeMed Cary Hospital Pharmacist Elizabeth Neuffer will be on hand to discuss and answer questions about osteoporosis, calcium supplements and how to avoid “calcium confusion.”
