This month, we are celebrating Lung Cancer Awareness by sharing news and information related to lung cancer and pulmonary health. Having a CT screening can help identify lung cancer in its early stages, when it’s most treatable.

WakeMed is proud to offer low-dose CT lung cancer screenings to eligible, high-risk patients at our imaging locations in:
- Apex
- Brier Creek
- Cary
- Garner
- Southeast Raleigh
- North Raleigh
Who Should be Screened for Lung Cancer
To qualify for a low-dose CT lung cancer screening, you must meet the following criteria:
- Be between 55 and 77 years old
- Be asymptomatic (showing no signs or symptoms of lung disease)
- Have a smoking history of at least 30 pack-years (1 pack a day for 30 years, or 2 packs a day for 15 years)
- Currently smoke or have quit within 15 years
- Have a physician’s referral
Talk to your primary care physician about your risk for lung cancer as well as the potential benefits of early testing.
