We are proud to announce that WakeMed Health & Hospitals was recently awarded the Infant Safe Sleep Hospital Model of Excellence designation by the North Carolina Healthy Start Foundation. The program recognizes N.C. hospitals for implementing evidence-based policies and practices that support infant safe sleep.
Karen Chilton, MD, medical director of pediatric critical care and hospital medicine for WakeMed Children’s Hospital stated:
Our mission is to improve the health and well-being of our community, and we are committed to modeling safe sleep practices in the hospital and providing the most effective education possible to reduce the risk of sleep-related infant deaths. This accomplishment is a culmination of system-wide efforts, and it is rewarding to know that our tiniest patients and their families leave our facilities with the education and resources that help keep babies safe in their cribs at home.
