May 6-12 is National Nurses Week, a time to recognize all nurses for their tireless dedication to caring for patients and families. At WakeMed, approximately 3,400 nurses help care for our patients. Each day, they selflessly commit themselves to others, doing everything they can to support their patients as they recover from or manage an illness, regain independence after an injury or surgery, or leave our hospital with a happy, healthy newborn. So, it is this time of year when we say thank you to our nurses for all that they do and all that they are. They contribute so much to our organization, and for that we are eternally grateful. We depend on our nurses, we appreciate them, and we are inspired by the challenging, heartfelt work that they do every day of the year.
