December 21 marked the winter solstice, or the shortest day of the year. Short days mean it gets dark very early. Since all of the children are out of school on holiday break, it is more important than ever to be diligent when driving through neighborhoods after it gets dark. This is especially true on New Year’s Eve.
Pedestrian injuries are a real risk for children. The following graphic provided by Safe Kids, breaks out the statistics for the more than 67,000 pediatric pedestrian injuries that occur each year.
